The Reservoirs were formed in December 2006 for a GCSE music assignment. Their first practise sessions were held in a basement in Reservoir Lane (hence the name) and these were quickly followed by supporting gigs at Unit 22, The Joiners and The Talking Heads in Southampton.
AND magazine wrote ……………………...
"The Reservoirs are an exciting new band from Southampton’s next generation. With musicianship and maturity beyond their years, 2007 has seen the 4 Hedge End schoolboys catapulted from nervous assembly concert, to headlining weekend gig’s at the Joiners, starring on local TV and supporting new chart favourite Ben’s Brother. A traditional rock line up of Dan (vocals/bass), Ally (lead guitar), George (vocals/guitar) and Todd (drums). The Reservoirs set fuses new & old, rock & funk, with covers and a growing repertoire of originals. Current influences include Arctic Monkeys, Beatles, Gary Moore and Jimi Hendrix, but at their current rate of success it won’t be long before they are influencing bands in their own right."
The band continued to write and play their own material and in September 2007 recorded three of their own tracks: It’s A Pity You’re So Pretty; Scars and Strangers.
In May 2008 a new line up was announced following George’s resignation from the band. Dan moved to rhythm guitar and Danny was brought in on bass.
In July 2008 It’s A Pity You’re So Pretty won the band first prize in the most original composition category of the wildern.tv awards.
In September 2008 the new line up went into the recording studio and recorded six new tracks which can be heard on Vox.
The Reservoirs have recently headlined at The Joiners and The Talking Heads in Southampton and The Railway Inn in Winchester. Their forthcoming gigs are listed on their website: www.myspace.com/thereservoirs
